I value..."YOU".

So often in life we go about our day to day not really thinking too much about the things we've made habits.

we eat the same things, get dressed the same way (with the same leg going into our pants first every time- pay attention now you are going to notice), shave the same leg first, brush our teeth (without really contemplating the angle of the brush or how THIS particular night of brushing teeth will effect us 5 years from now.) These are just things we do...chew, swallow. we don't even have to tell our brain.. "swallow it."

Over time life will tell you if your habits are healthy, hurtful, dangerous, or deadly. Our habits will determine whether we gain health, wealth, fame, fortune, joy, peace, love, enrichment, fulfillment, friends, and enemies... Darren Hardy calls this the compound effect. Daily choices made consistently over time equals our life results.

What does OVER TIME get us?? fatter, thinner, more in debt, less friends, more hurt, more money, more referrals, more peace, less fillings (if we're still talking about teeth), more muscle, smarter... it all depends on how you spend your time. your habits.

When we look in the mirror or drive down the road or pull up in our driveway... we see a lot of things. A tricked out roadster, and mansion on a hill, a modest cottage that keeps you from the rain, a set of wheels that give you freedom, a car that gets you to your paycheck so you can support yourself or family. When is comes down to it we all want freedom and that is what Yoli is all about. An opportunity to give you freedom. Freedom from an unhealthy body that holds you back, for a couple friends I know its freedom from diabetes which will slowly drain your years and energy. Freedom to buy what you need verses what you WANT. Freedom from a job you hate, retirement that's behind, taxes your over paying. There is freedom to be had and it can be ours if we master our habits. And redirect our TIME.

Time Freedom is a phrase I'm am used to hearing. The concept was foreign to me a few short years ago. Free time, to do as a family what we want to do, and when we want to do it. Time Freedom is a luxury, a dream that so many have given up on. All they know is I HAVE to go to this job and I HAVE to do what my boss says, I HAVE to miss that recital for work, I HAVE to be late to her softball game cause I can't get off work. I CAN'T take vacation, I CAN'T drive a better car, I CAN'T pay my bills.

Sometimes it's the easy things that are hard to do. Because no one dies. If I don't floss, NO ONE DIES. my teeth won't fall out today. If I eat that pie I don't gain and instant 25 pounds, it doesn't affect me TODAY.

I guess in all of my randomness there are several major points.
1. be aware of you daily habits. you are what you do daily. lie daily? You're a liar. you are generous? you are a giver. you miss the first smile, first word, first food, step, game, his first basket, her first home run? you are absent. consistently stay up late? you are exhausted. ;) spend time? you are caring. consider others? you are thoughtful.

2. Decide where you place value! family, home, health, education, church, friends, work, yard, politics, hobbies, or ______________... spend your time investing in what you really value.

3. Lastly: The whole story is supposed to be about getting back to valuing your health. you will get out what you put in. Don't floss/brush now? cavities later. Don't get that cavity filled? Root canal later? Don't get the root canal? you get the extraction or crown.. do you see where this is headed? it goes back to the easy things sometimes being the hardest to do. Flossing. Is it easy or hard? IT'S EASY!! so why don't we do it? because it won't kill us today.

If you invest in high quality food, learn how to eat correctly for you and your family, you save your self THOUSANDS and THOUSAND later in Dr. visits, medication, quality of life. Eat junk, get junk.

Occasionally I hear, "that's expensive", and what I've learned and truly believe is BEING SICK IS EXPENSIVE!!! not brushing is expensive... remember that analogy? apply it to your diet. You INVEST a little extra toward your health NOW and save yourself the root canal LATER.. for me it's that simple. And hears the last sentence of the post.

"I can't afford to invest in my health..." MY ANSWER? "If you broke your leg, would you stay home from the ER because it's TOO EXPENSIVE?? No!! You'd go get it fixed, you'd make it work to get the care you need." "If you are sick, or overweight, or malnourished, consider yourself broken... go get fixed and make it work. It's that serious."

You are worth investing in. You deserve to be as healthy as you can be NOW. If you are ready to find help to make those changes, I can help!

I value YOU!!!

Thanks for reading the WHOLE long THING!! I love your comments.

FICTION CAN BE FUN!! Jim Carey

I talk a lot about health this and health that, mostly it sounds like a lot of work,RIGHT? Well that's fiction at it's finest- there are so many FUN healthy activities to choose from!

Being healthy isn't ALL about lifting weights, running marathons, or yoga poses. It's about having a healthy lifestyle, which doesn't necessarily mean celery sticks and hunger pains.
Thursday nights are one of the highlights of my week as far as personal time goes... for the last year I've been going to LA fitness and playing recreational volleyball. It started out being slightly intimidating since it's mostly a bunch of guys who can hit a ball at mach 3 at your face. Then I got to know them and realized they are all there to have a good time (Chris featured on the upper right- keeps us guessing with his apparel-he actually had regular basketball shorts on but hey if you have legs like his you might as well show them off, right? love that kid!) The point isn't to torture yourself into good health it's about learning how to enjoy this lifestyle. try rock climbing ( Lucas is a fan!) , racquetball, diving, (Alfred on the left show off his vertical and perfect form- we secretly hate him, j/k Alfred we're just jealous and a little scared... ;)horseback riding, wrestling, kick boxing, cycling, there are LOTS of things to do that don't involve training for the Boston Marathon, or racing in the Tour De France..Kayaking, tennis, rowing, Zumba (the spicy way to do a aerobics), yoga, chasing your kids, soccer, baseball, football, ballet, ballroom dancing, walking, gymnastics, jumping on the trampoline, swimming... you get the point... (Picture below- is Justin's highschool- his little brother isn't in this picture but we were there to watch him play)Go learn something new that gets you off the couch, off the computer and into some spandex!! ok, maybe not spandex but get the blood flowing. Physical activity is good for more than the heart, it's good for the soul, the mind and your emotions... So when you feel like life's got you down, GET UP!! and GET MOVING...

TIPS on setting a new years resolution

HOWDY faithful followers and random "checker in-ers"

The end of the year approaches and that means holidays and new years resolutions are right around the corner. If you are like me I do try to set some reasonable goals for the new year and make a simple plan on how to achieve those goals.

In a lot of cases new years resolutions include some form of "get healthy" type goal. If that's you and you are again planning on making a goal to resolve to "get healthy" I would offer this as a tip: TIP #1 BE SPECIFIC Make your goal small and sustainable for the long haul. Something specific and as simple as cut down on 4 pops a day to 2. Or start using whole grain bread instead of processed white bread. Assess your goal monthly, or quarterly and if you have been able to make those small changes make another small one. If you simply say I want to "get healthy" you won't have anything to gauge your goal against. Another example is "I want to stop smoking this year." That is a worthy goal but not a plan that makes you take specific action. Be specific and say, "I want to stop smoking in the car." Give that a month then re-assess how you are doing. Or pick a number of cigarettes you'd like to reduce your intake to. Only take that reduced number of cigarettes with you that day. That way you'll have a way to gauge how you are doing.

TIP #2 Write down your plan of ATTACK!! If you don't make a plan with the reason WHY you want to attain this goal the goal is easily forgotten or dismissed. I think making changes even if they seem reasonable, obvious, or practical are still really hard to make stick. Write down WHY you want to lose weight, WHY you want to cut back on how much you smoke (maybe eventually quitting altogether), cut back on coffee, save money, take in less sugar, work out more often, play with your kids more, get your car paid off... whatever the goal may be. WHY is this time going to be different. THEN make your WHY really count. I want to pay off my car so I have more finacial freedom to take a vacation with my family. I want to play with my kids more so they have fond memories of a mother who took time to enjoy them, making them feel important, cherished, listened too. Give your GOAL A REASON!!

My goal isn't to tell you what goals you should be making but to help you be successful in whatever goals you DO decide to set.

I'm sure there are many more in depth ways of making setting and achieving goals in fact I know there are several books written on this subject alone. I vote for making new years resolutions. Make a plan to better yourself. Invest in your character, your family, your business, your health.

Enjoy the holidays and I hope our paths cross and this finds you happy and healthy.

If health is one of your goals, you may really enjoy this www.loveyourlife.goyoli.com

Steve Jobs passing brings Clarity to the Importance of our Health

With the Passing of Steve Jobs, the 110th richest man in the world, worth more than 8 billion dollars it makes me pause to think. A man with so much power, the world at his fingertips and he can't buy his himself a cancer free body.

The statement- "money can't buy everything." brings new meaning. Here was a man who literally had billions of dollars but loss his fight with cancer at the age of 56... leaving behind a wife and 4 children...

I honestly don't know much about Steve Jobs and this isn't supposed to be a tribute as if I knew him. His death is sad and his legacy will live on.... What I do think is this.

We need to change the way we think about our health. RIGHT? In my business the excuse I hear ISN'T, "I don't think I need that." The excuse I hear A LOT is, "I can't afford it." I understand that. Everyone's situation is different and I won't pretend to know your budget or circumstance. Let me throw this out there and then I'll leave you alone. (for now. ;) When it comes to your health... YOU CAN'T AFFORD NOT TOO!! There is a quote I heard once that has stuck with me. A man said, "people spend the beginning of their life sacrificing their health, working toward building wealth (or in most of our cases just a livable retirement), THEN we spend the second half of our life spending that wealth on our health!! When I heard that it just clicked... I see it a lot. People I know and love working LONG, labor intensive hours, for too little pay only to be broken down and exhausted at the end of a day. What do they have left for their families? their friends? themselves? a hobby? We know the answer, don't we. NOTHING... They spend the evening decompressing in front of the tv...mentally exhausted, just wanting to "unwind".

Here is the way of thinking I have come around to. I can't honestly say that I would have thought this way 2 years ago before starting Yoli. When I say Yoli has changed me I mean it in so many places in my life. I think that NOW is the time to INVEST in our HEALTH... NOW is the time to learn about what is out there that can make big differences in how we live out the end of our days. I see people in those motorized carts buying groceries and I think to myself.. I DO NOT want to be THAT GUY!! What can I do now to prevent that scenario in MY life?

I think we do pretty good as far as using moderation when we indulgence at our house. We don't drink, smoke, drink energy drinks, coffee, drugs, we cook at home the majority of the time, kids have a bedtime routine so they get enough rest (mostly for my sanity:), we are pretty active and try to teach our kids to be active and eat a variety of foods. I also know there is still more I can do for me and my family when it comes to our health.

I think one for me personally is getting better quality sleep. Maybe it's from the bible, maybe it's just an old proverb that says: "early to bed early to rise, make a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." right? SO HERE IT GOES: Most of you know that I am a late night junkie... a sort of insomniac (not that I couldn't sleep if I would just put myself to bed!! haha). When I was a teenager in high school I used to sleep on the couch by the fireplace downstairs because that's where all the fun was and I didn't want to miss anything. My mom threatened to sell my bed!! My room was the only one upstairs that I shared with my little sister. So this isn't a new thing but I am being told all the time, by my well meaning husband, that I need to go to bed earlier. I know he's right even though at the time I don't like admitting it. I am PUBLICLY saying, I WILL DO BETTER AT GOING TO SLEEP AT A DECENT TIME. There I said it.

I was thinking some sort of schedule where I get a cheat night where I get to just be up late and love it. This is the schedule I was thinking. 7 days in a week. 2 of them are mine to cheat and stay up late. The rest of the nights are subject to scheduled events. If there is nothing going on I will go bed the same time as Justin. I am (for now) picking Monday nights and Thursday nights as my late nights. K? Hold me too it!! If you see me on Facebook at 1am on a Wednesday I give you permission to shame me, call me out, and cry out in the name of better health, "GO TO BED!! YOU PROMISED!!" haha

I don't think a lack of sleep will be the death of me, HOWEVER I do think I will have increased happiness, patience and joy if I head to the counsel early to bed, early to rise.

The successful people in life don't necessarily do really hard things... they just do the little things that are EASY TO DO, and easy NOT TO DO... it's easy to go lay down at 11 but it's just as easy to sit up and write emails, play on facebook, or watch a sitcom until 2 am. it's easy to floss our teeth and easy not too.

So there you have people.

Invest now so you can save yourself money and heartache. or don't, and drive a motorized cart. :)

Thanks. this has been a fun one for me to write.

Post Numero UNO...

Well I promised y'all a YOLI blog and here it is!!

HOWEVER... as time goes on and I learn hordes about balance and growth I've learned life involves more than just Yoli. I know, can you even believe I just said that?? Those of you who saw me at the beginning of YOLI, verbally puking my yoli knowledge on everyone who had a pulse will appreciate this growth... haha..

I will most likely be posting adds on general health, maybe a great recipe or two, my own articles on health, passion for my products and business and I reserve the right to write about whatever is on my mind or that I feel needs to be talked about. :) I'm excited to have a place to write about my business adventures, upcoming events, and just have an outlet for all things yoli, business, and healthy living.

I encourage you to leave your comments if you stop by HOWEVER brief they may be. I also would strongly encourage you to keep your comments uplifting, and if criticism needs to be rendered please keep it constructive. My goal for this blog and those who visit it, is for this to be a place of encouragement and positivity... This blog will be public and "searchable" so keep your private life private and let this be a social space for the masses!!

Thank you!!

LET THE FUN BEGIN!!
